1. About this policy
Bag Tags (“the Service”) is a free disc-golf bag-tag leaderboard tracker operated by Disc.Market LLC at tags.disc.market, a companion to the Disc.Market marketplace. This policy explains what the Service collects, what is public, and the choices you have. It is specific to Bag Tags; the main Disc.Market Privacy Policy also applies.
2. What we collect
- A device identifier cookie (
dm_bagtag_device) — a random token stored on your device for about a year so the Service remembers which tag is yours, without a login. It is set only on the tags site, is never shown publicly, and does not follow you to the Disc.Market marketplace. - The display name or nickname you enter — whatever you choose to show on the board. A nickname is fine. It runs through an automated word filter when you enter it.
- An optional PDGA number — only if you choose to add it.
- An optional email address — only if you choose to add it, used solely for the alerts described in section 4. Most players never add one.
- A PIN — a required 4–6 digit PIN you set when you join, so only you can move your name from a new device. We store only a securely hashed version of your PIN (a salted one-way hash) — never the PIN itself, and it is never shown to anyone.
- Your tag activity — your scans and swaps, the tag you hold, and your standing, which form the public leaderboard and history.
- If you submit an abuse report, we log the report and a coarse network (IP) address to help us review it and to limit abuse. We may also log basic request information for rate-limiting and security. Report data is visible only to Disc.Market administrators, never to clubs or other players.
Club organizers sign in with their Disc.Market account, so their account identity is handled under the main Disc.Market Privacy Policy. An organizer (and any co-admins) can see the players in their own club — including each player's display name, optional PDGA number, and optional email — on their private club roster, in order to run the club.
3. What is public
Bag Tags is built around a public leaderboard. The following is visible to anyone and can be indexed by search engines:
- your display name — or “Anonymous” if you choose to be hidden;
- your PDGA number, if you added one (shown only while your name is visible — not when you are hidden or unclaimed);
- your tag number and where you stand;
- your tag movements and the recent-swaps history of the club;
- the history of a tag — each tag's public page lists the chain of players who have held that number and when, so your display name can appear there after you hold a tag.
Please don't enter anything you don't want to be public. If you'd rather not show a name, use a nickname or pick the hidden option (you appear as “Anonymous · #N”). Your email and your device identifier are never shown publicly.
4. How we use your email
If you provide an email address, we use it only for these purposes:
- a “confirm it's you” link — a sign-in-style email sent when you re-claim your name from a new device, so we can verify it's really you before the new device is linked;
- a season-end recap with your final standing.
We do not use your email for marketing, and we do not sell it. Your club's organizer can see it on the private roster (to run the club), but it is never shown publicly. You can ask your club admin to remove your email at any time.
5. No player logins
Players have no password and no account. Your identity is remembered by the device cookie described above, and your player record is kept per club. If you switch devices or clear your browser, you can re-claim your tag by scanning it again, or your club admin can re-link you.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. The public leaderboard is, by design, public. Beyond that, we share information only with the service providers (sub-processors) that help us run the Service, and only as needed to operate it:
- Supabase — database hosting and organizer sign-in;
- Vercel — application hosting;
- Cloudflare — images and content delivery; and
- Resend — sending the verification and season-end emails.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Disc.Market, our users, or the public.
7. Cookies
The Service sets the dm_bagtag_device cookie described above so it can remember your tag without a login. It is a strictly functional cookie, scoped to the tags site only and not readable by page scripts. Clearing your browser cookies removes it — you will then appear as a new device until you re-claim your tag. The site-wide analytics and consent cookies used across Disc.Market are covered by the main Disc.Market Privacy Policy.
8. Your choices and rights
- Change your name: edit it from your tag page. Changes go to your club admin for approval and run through the word filter before they appear on the public board.
- Hide your name: choose the hidden option to show as “Anonymous · #N” instead of your name.
- Be removed: ask your club admin to remove you from the club. If the admin deletes the club, its public history — including your entry — is erased.
- Clear your device cookie: clearing your browser cookies removes your device-bound identity on this site.
- Access or deletion: you can contact us at support@disc.market to request access to, or deletion of, your information.
9. Data retention
We keep a player's information for as long as the club is active, so the leaderboard and season history stay intact. When a club is deleted, its public history — including each player's entry — is erased. You can ask your club admin to remove you, or contact support@disc.market to have your information removed sooner. Abuse-report logs are kept only as long as needed to review the report and protect the Service.
10. Children and minors
Bag Tags is meant for disc-golf clubs and is not directed to children under 13. Because a player's display name (and optional PDGA number) appears on a public, search-indexable leaderboard, please keep a younger player's entry non-identifying:
- a parent, guardian, or the club organizer should set up and manage the entry for a minor;
- use a nickname or the hidden option (shown as “Anonymous · #N”) instead of a real full name; and
- do not add an email address for a child under 13 without a parent's or guardian's consent.
Club organizers are responsible for the players they add or approve, including any minors. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information without parental consent, contact us at support@disc.market and we will remove it promptly.
